Behavior Agreement

*Please fill out one Behavior Agreement for each camper you are enrolling.*

Behavior Guidelines & Rules 

We expect campers to act respectfully at all times when they are on theatre property or participating in our programs. Campers are to behave in a mature, responsible way and respect the rights and dignity of others. 

● Campers take Responsibility for their actions. 

● Campers Respect themselves, each other, camp equipment and the environment. 

Honesty will be the basis for all relationships and interactions. 

● Campers will be Caring in their relationships with others. 

Campers should talk to a camp staff member if they are uncomfortable with any experiences or need assistance while at camp. 

Discipline Procedures 

When a camper does not follow the behavior guidelines, we will take the following steps as behavior problems progress: 

1. Staff redirects the camper to more appropriate behavior. 

2. If inappropriate behavior continues, the camper is reminded of behavior guidelines and 

camp rules, and is asked to decide on actions to correct his/her behavior. 

3. If a camper’s behavior still does not meet expectations and is affecting the experience of 

other campers, he/she is referred to the Camp Director, who may involve parents/guardians. 

4. If inappropriate behavior persists, the camper may be dismissed from camp. 

Examples of Unacceptable Behavior: 

● Refusing to follow behavior guidelines or camp rules 

● Using profanity, vulgarity or obscenity 

● Stealing or abusing property (personal or camp property) 

● Refusal to participate in activities or cooperate with staff 

● Disrupting a program 

● Leaving a program without permission 

● Endangering the health and safety of campers and/or staff 

● Use of illicit drugs, alcohol or tobacco 

● Sexual misconduct of any kind 

● Bullying other campers or staff 

● Fighting of any kind 

Camper fees are non-refundable if a camper is sent home for disciplinary reasons. Physical violence or bullying toward another camper or staff member will result in immediate dismissal from the camp program. 

Bullying Policy 

At Rich Theatre, we have a firm policy against all types of bullying. Each camper is expected to treat all other campers with respect, and to help each other achieve the best possible experience. 

Bullying includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally, and excluding someone from a group on purpose. Verbal bullying is saying or writing mean things. Social bullying, sometimes referred to as relational bullying, involves hurting someone’s reputation or relationships and excluding someone. Physical bullying involves hurting a person’s body or possessions. Verbal and social bullying can take place in person or online through the use of emails, text messaging, instant messaging, weblogs, personal Websites. This type of bullying can also lead to persons being hurt during or between the camp seasons. 

Bullying is inexcusable at camp, but we can’t manage an incident if we don’t know about it. Our leadership addresses all incidents of bullying and trains staff to promote communication with their campers so both staff and campers will be comfortable alerting us to any problems during their camp experience. 


Camper Attire 

This is a movement-based camp. Though official dance attire is not required, we ask that campers wear comfortable, loose clothing that allows for unrestrained action. Campers should be able to stretch, jump, run and do stage combat. Closed-toed black jazz shoes must be worn daily. Campers’ clothing should reflect good taste. Inappropriate dress includes but is not limited to the following: hats, short shorts, clothing promoting alcohol, drugs, or tobacco products, clothing with inappropriate images, provocative clothing, and bare midriffs. Campers may be asked to change if the Director deems attire to be inappropriate. 

Electronic Devices 

This is a device free camp. Campers are permitted to bring cell phones but only for use during the lunch break. If you would like to get in touch with your camper during the camp day, please contact the Camp Director (text or call 757.317.1515). During the camp week, you may also contact us via email (inforichtheatre@gmail.com). 

Personal Property 

Campers are expected to bring only what is necessary for participation in camp activities, and to keep track of what they bring. Rich Theatre is not responsible or liable for any personal equipment that is lost, stolen, or broken. 

Rich Theatre will make reasonable efforts to reconnect personal property with owners. Lost & Found items will be held at camp until the last day of camp. Any unclaimed items will be discarded or recycled at the end of the camp season. 

Chronic Health Conditions 

Any camper with a chronic health condition must have that condition documented by a licensed physician on the health history form provided by the camp. On Audition/Parent Orientation or the first day of camp, the camper and parent/guardian must meet with the Camp Director to review information about any chronic health condition(s). All medication must be given to the Camp Director in its original container with physician’s instructions for dosage on the label. Counselors will be notified of the camper’s health condition by the Camp Director. All medical information shall be kept confidential and stored in the camper’s health file. 

Falsely Reported Emergency Calls and Fire Alarms 

Any camper setting off a fire alarm, fire extinguisher, tampering with a smoke detector or using the phone to falsely report an emergency to 911 will be subject to immediate dismissal.
